Soda ash (sodium carbonate, Na₂CO₃) and potash (potassium carbonate, K₂CO₃) manufacturing processes involve complex chemistry including carbonation of brine solutions, crystallisation, evaporation, and calcination. At multiple stages, specialty process chemicals are required to control crystal size, improve liquor clarity, prevent scaling of evaporator and heat exchanger surfaces, suppress foam formation, and achieve efficient solid-liquid separation.
